Context and the Goal

I am currently working on a picturebook that will help spread awareness about childhood anxiety. In doing so, I hope to help and comfort people who are suffering from these difficulties.

Anxiety can discourage adolescents from taking part in academic or social activities. This can have negative repercussions on their wellbeing in the future. This picture book will help the child identify and address these issues. As a result, the child will be less likely to become emotionally unstable as they age. The picture book was a fun Endeavor, as I enjoy creating art and stories. This allowed me the opportunity to assist others in personalizing the project. This project’s difficulty and complexity can be affected by many factors. For example, educating young adolescents about anxiety is a complex topic that can impact the product’s ability to communicate the message effectively without being too technical or boring. It is possible to remedy this by conducting extensive research into the anxiety of adolescents and how they can cope with it.

My global context is titled ‘Identities and Relationships. This global context examines the mental, spiritual, physical, and personal health of those who suffer from anxiety. It gives me a better understanding of myself and my weaknesses. This is why I believe this context is the most useful and practical.

Because I have many skills that I am still learning and developing, this project will be difficult for me. Digital art is an example. Digital art is difficult to use because you need to understand the software used to design the product. You also need to know how to best use all its functions in order to get the best illustrations. The project’s challenges include helping adolescents with anxiety and depression to understand and cope with their problems. It’s difficult because the information must be diluted to make it easier for children to understand, without being too complex.

Pre-existing information

I had previously learned a variety of information from school classes, research and other sources, which helped me in creating the picture book storyline. Except for some exceptions, I learned most of my MYP subjects in school, including Engineering and Design and English.

Creative writing, planning and research skills were the skills that I used for this project. English is an excellent example of how MYP subjects can improve your knowledge. This is where I learned desirable techniques for creative storytelling. It taught me how to structure stories and use communicative methods. This helped me create a better product.

Additionally, the overall personal growth of my intelligence/creativity, greatly influenced the process of developing my product. My product’s success was ultimately due to the fact that I have been able to balance and organize my practice artwork as well as other subjects in school.

Research skills

Over the years, I have acquired many effective research skills which I have used in this project. I would like to mention the method of crediting multiple sources from different sources. The research technique made it easy for me to find useful statistics and websites. This also helped me develop my organizational and time management skills.

I was able to organize and create a picture book that would spread awareness about the subject.

While there are many methods to acquire research skills, I have learned that the MYP helps me find the best. The MYP also teaches me to use the internet and books as a source of information. This allows me to manipulate the data and gain new research skills. These skills can be displayed through research projects, dissertations, or assignments. My MYP experience has shown me that the most significant skills were data collection, planning as well as critical analysis.

Plan product criteria

[Appendix A] contains the criteria that I used to create my product/outcome. It is a picture book for teenagers with anxiety. I created my own criteria sheet after extensive research. This criterion formed the basis of my standard requirement. I considered it fair enough to earn a certain mark rating. Based on the information I have gathered, you can judge my overall product success within a certain threshold.

My multi-dimensional product criteria was validated by professional research. I adjusted my product criteria to adjust for the amount of participants and the money figure. These adjustments were closer to the project.

The progression of creating something new.

My school developed a plan for us to achieve our short-term and long-term goals. This plan was not reliable and lacking in detail for my work methods. I instead of using this method, I used several others that I created and tailored to my work routines. For example, I created an “execution timeline” (Appendix B), which is a structured calendar that sets key dates for me to work on particular parts of the essay. This allowed me flexibility in my work pace and allowed me to manage school, work, and social interaction while still working on this project.

Although I have limited ability to assess the quality or success of my product, it was clear that ‘Jordon’s Troublez’ a picture book that I designed and made was a definite winner. The criteria I developed to evaluate this product was a success. Most of the strands were given high marks (in the 7-8 column). This is not an objective opinion. However, it shows how much I have learned and how far I have come as a student in the last year. My product’s success would have been enhanced if I had received many comments from adults and children, who were happy to read my picture book and congratulate me on how good it turned out.

You can also link my picture book, Jon’s Troublez, to my Global Context, Relationships, and Identities. Because of the organization and planning involved in the product, this creates a connection and relationship with the target audience (young teens and young adults). I was able gather feedback from my artwork and get inspiration from others. Artstation, Pinterest and Tumblr allow artists worldwide to collaborate and learn. I was able, by reflecting on my strengths and improving my planning, to learn more and grow as an artist.

Mental Abilities

The MYP system requires that you have a high level of thinking skills. Both my creative and critical thinking were important in the decision-making process during the manufacturing and planning of this picture book. One example of my creativity is in the design of the characters that I would use in the product. It took hours of trial-and-error to find the right characters that would convey the best message and be the most attractive for boys and girls. As parents, I used a double-headed monster, one male and one feminine.

Research into childhood anxiety taught me that arguing with your parents and divorce are both triggers of anxiety.

I can then educate teenagers about the issues and how to solve them. I also used critical thinking in other tasks. This had a huge impact on the entire project, teaching me valuable skills and improving previously learned techniques like effectively planning.

Communication & Social Skills

These skills are not the only ones I have acquired. I have also developed many other skills like communication and social skills during this project. Communication played an important role in my project’s success. One example is the ease with which I could convey my message through my book. Because I was trying to teach children through words, this was crucial. My product would not have been able to meet my criteria if it was not done correctly.

The website that I used to get feedback on my work was another way I improved my communication and social skills. This website was instrumental in my development of social skills. I gained confidence and experience from being exposed to different skills.

Reflecting Product Evaluation

My product/outcome is a success. It communicates the message and provides insight into how anxiety sufferers can control their triggers. My product has received positive reviews from many family members and friends, with the majority of them being very positive. This was an amazing opportunity to learn about the anxiety struggles of children and to help them understand.

In assessing my strengths, I can safely say that my product, ‘Jordon’s Troublez’ is more successful than my weaknesses. This does not mean that I am incapable of learning and improving. A weakness in my product was when I received feedback from my family members and friends. My product was improved by the feedback from my family and friends. They each suggested minor changes that I could make. Their feedback also indicated that the product was rushed. This meant that I could no longer say in Criterion B that my organisational skills and planning skills were up to par with mine.

Thinking about one’s own actions

The experience was extremely valuable in improving my knowledge and expanding it throughout the project. I have learned many skills and improved my knowledge. I was able to learn many techniques and skills from the artist site that I could apply in my product. To make digital art look smoother, I recommend using the paint bucket when coloring in the first picture. These skills will help me greatly in the future. You can also assume that there is no easy solution to any problem you face, as I did with the picture book.

Many aspects have required extensive consultations. My global context ‘Identities & relationships’ has helped me to expand my knowledge and have helped me think more clearly.

I’ve learned that creating art is hard work and requires a lot of time. IB learning has been a huge part of this project. As I transition from the Middle Years Program towards the IB, I’ve greatly enhanced my MYP knowledge.

My critical thinking skills have improved through many important decisions. One example is imagining a story while still maintaining a flow through the book. This was quite a challenge so I decided to work with my editor to develop a better script.

This process was not only time-consuming but also engaging. It provided valuable information that allowed for the development of other parts of the storyline.
